Matcha Ujicha

Matcha Ujicha

I’ll share something with you, tea lovers. When I first tasted this Matcha, it stunned me so deeply I uttered an expletive. If you’ll indulge me, it brought to mind words of a Tang poet found in The Book of Tea by Okakura Kakuzō:

The first cup moistens my lips and throat, the second cup breaks my loneliness, the third cup searches my barren entrail but to find therein some five thousand volumes of odd ideographs. The fourth cup raises a slight perspiration,—all the wrong of life passes away through my pores. At the fifth cup I am purified; the sixth cup calls me to the realms of the immortals. The seventh cup—ah, but I could take no more! I only feel the breath of cool wind that rises in my sleeves. […] Let me ride on this sweet breeze and waft away thither.

This organic emerald jewel of Matcha originates in the rich, fog clad earth of Uji – one of the oldest tea producing regions in the whole country. Teas from Uji were prized by the tea masters. This vibrant, expressive, silken Matcha is like sunshine rising in the tea bowl, and at once calms and rejuvenates. Dancing top notes of sweet green peas and lime. A hint of plums and cream. Crowned by emerald foam.
